While
I love Japan, the Japanese people and Japanese arts, technology and
culture, I abhor Japan's (and Iceland's) whaling policy…

Iceland's
'scientific whaling' programme, like Japan's, is merely commercial whaling
in disguise.
Commercial whaling was banned by the International Whaling Commission
(IWC) in 1982, but a loophole allows the killing of whales for research
purposes. Iceland plans to sell the products of its 'research' to Japan,
where whale meat generates four billion yen in sales annually.

| Welcome
to my Japanese bookbinding
site.
The
investigation and production of archaic Japanese bookforms has
brought me a greal deal of pleasure over the years, and I would
like to share some of this with you.
The
research which led to this site was undertaken in the Bookbinding
department of the School of Arts and Communication in the Faculty
of Arts and Architecture at the University
of Brighton.

My
thanks and appreciation are due to all the staff in the Bindery,
and is expressed in the Acknowledgements section of the Appendices.
I hope you will enjoy reading about Japanese bookforms and will
try making some yourself. |
